Corking silly prices.

If I were to supply you with a bottle of champagne and charge you with the extremely tricky task of opening it for me, how much would you charge?

This is the question that we've asked the nice people at The Bell Hotel where we're getting married next month. It's called corking. The idea being that the bar at the hotel can still make a few pennies on the drinks that are served, even if people bring their own.

After all, it's only fair. You wouldn't bring a packed lunch to McDonald's.

So giving the barkeep a few pennies for the simple task of removing a cork from a bottle seems like the least we could do.


So how much does The Bell Hotel charge for corking?

Eighteen pounds a bottle.
